The Anatomy Of A Misunderstanding: Noise
Premise:
The source of all human conflict is miscommunication, the main root of which stems from noise. I declare this before the gallery at large, and propose this train of thought.
To be convinced by my claim, the first thing the reader needs to know is exactly what we mean by the term noise, and how it plays the most crucial part amongst the catalysts. Now, I am not an etymologist by any means, so I had to do some digging and found:
The standard dictionary nearest should suffice in defining noise as “unwanted sound considered unpleasant, loud or disruptive to hearing”. Scientifically “noise is indistinguishable from desired sound, as both vibrations through a medium, such as air or water. In experimental sciences “noise can refer to any random fluctuations of data that hinders perception of a signal”. The pattern to be observed is that the theme repeats with the more definitions from various fields that you find.
In this regard and context: Noise, from the wise words of one of my high school teachers; is “Anything that prevents the delivery of the desired data through whatever means or medium it may be, to the receiving end in such a manner that it can be successfully processed as information that can be understood in the way it was originally intended by the sender”.
